Registration for I Study and Work: the requirements and how much is paid

The Executive Branch this week presented the details of a new edition of the I Study and Work program, which aims to offer a first formal work experience to young students between 16 and 20 years of age, to develop transversal skills that allow them to perform in the job market, ensuring continuity in study.

In this edition a total of 40 institutions that will offer a total of 651 scholarship places. Registration will remain open until November 30 inclusive, through the site www.inscripcion.com.uy

What follows are some keys published by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MTSS) on registration requirements, deadlines and salaries, among others.

What are the registration requirements?
Be between 16 and 20 years old at the time of enrollment.

Be studying in a formal educational center (school, high school, CETP-UTU, IPA, Teaching, University and tertiary institutes) or non-formal (Cecap, Inefop, etc., with a minimum duration of 240 hours).

Not be currently working and have not had formal work experience greater than 90 continuous days or, in the event of being discontinuous, it may not be more than 90 days in a two-year period (this requirement refers to dependent, independent, owner, partner company with activity or other figures that the social security organizations contemplate).

What are the stages of the I Study and Work Program?
Registration by filling out a form that will be available on the page: www.inscripcion.com.uy from November 23 to 30, 2021.

Draw and publication of results

Receipt of documentation and verification of requirements: the young people drawn from Montevideo will be summoned to present the documentation at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, from December 14 to 16, from 9.30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In the interior of the country, the reception will be at the Technical Employment Centers on the same dates. The list of centers is available on the MTSS website.

At the time of presenting the documentation, the day, time and place where an Educational-Labor Orientation workshop will be held will be coordinated.

Evaluation: the company will carry out at least two instances of evaluation of labor competencies, which are mandatory.

Is registration only online?
Yes, only. If you do not have internet access, you can go to the Technical Employment Centers in each locality.

Young people with disabilities who are going to enter for the disability quota must register in the National Registry of Persons with Disabilities of Mides. In Montevideo, the procedure is carried out at the Mides headquarters (Av. 18 de julio 1453, Telephone: 2400 0302, ext. 6113). In the interior of the country it can be done at the Mides territorial offices.

Likewise, you can start the process through the link: National Registry of Persons with Disabilities where you will be assigned a procedure number that will allow you to follow up on this. It can also be requested via email to [email protected].

The documentation to present will be: medical file, personal file, photocopy of identity card, reports that account for the limitations that the person presents. Once the documentation sent has been validated, MIDES will contact you to carry out the disability assessment. Otherwise, they will contact you to request the missing documentation.

Can you enroll in more than one department?
Yes. But you must study or reside in the town where you register. Likewise, he must fulfill functions in the locality in which he is drawn, therefore, the daily commute to work and study must be taken into account. If you cannot access the position in the location where you were drawn, you must resign from the program and the next person on the list will be called.

What is the process to access the jobs offered by the companies to the program?
Participants will be designated by public lottery before a notary public, on December 7. The results will be published on the MTSS website on the 8th of the same month.

How many hours per week should I work?
The workload will be 20 or 30 hours per week. You cannot work overtime under any circumstances.

Can you choose the company where you work?
No. The program is the one who derives the company taking into account various variables and the tasks to be carried out in the companies.

What is the remuneration?
The monthly remuneration will be 4 Basis of Benefits and Contributions (BPC) that is equivalent to $ 19,480.

Pregnant women or women with dependent children under 4 years of age will receive a monthly salary of 6 BPC for 30 hours per week, equivalent to $ 29,220.

In case of working 20 hours a week, the remuneration will be proportional to this hourly load.

What are the tasks to perform?
In all cases, they will be operational or administrative support tasks, and will be appointed by the company and the direct supervisor.

What are the causes of withdrawal from the program?
Educational abandonment and / or loss of the year due to absences.

Failure to deliver the study certificates issued by the educational center in a timely manner.

Failure to attend the instances established by the guidance team.

Notorious work misconduct.

Incurring five or more unexcused absences from the workplace.

Incurring three or more unannounced absences from the workplace.

Is there a possibility of being budgeted?
No. Participants will not acquire the quality of public officials nor will they have the right to stay.
