Regime prevents Berta Soler from participating in the first mass of the year

MADRID, Spain.- The repressive Cuban authorities arbitrarily arrested again this Sunday Berta Soler, leader of the Ladies in White, when she was on her way to the Cathedral to participate in the first mass of the year.

At the time she was detained by State Security agents in civilian clothes, Berta Soler was leaving the opposition group’s headquarters in the Lawton neighborhood of the capital.

As explained by the activist through Facebook, was taken in a patrol car to the police unit on Aguilera street. In the parking lot of said unit, they kept her inside the car for 45 minutes. She was later transferred to a cell of the 11th unit in San Miguel del Padrón. She was released around 8:00 p.m.

In a video Shared by her husband, fellow activist Ángel Moya, Berta Soler is heard shouting: “Freedom for the people of Cuba! Long live human rights! Down with Díaz-Canel!”, when she was arrested.

Among the numerous messages of support for the opposition, shared on social networks, that of Rosa Chente stands out, who pointed out: “They do not know that this Lady in White is not scared by a dungeon. She moves her a UNIVERSAL right ”.

While Francisco L. Ortiz expressed: “We are thousands of people who, from Spain, follow you and admire your courage. You have to put an end to that murderous regime. The Cuban people cannot continue to put up with those satraps who have kidnapped your freedom and your lives.”

For his part, William Tamayo Ramayo, demanded: “Down with the harassment and political persecution against human rights activists. Immediate freedom for all our brothers political prisoners in Cuba”.

Since the Ladies in White announced in January 2022 that they were reactivating “the campaign of confrontation for the freedom of all political prisoners without exclusion”, its members have been subjected to constant surveillance and arrests.
