AREQUIPA, Peru – José Manuel Carvajal Zaldívar, a Cuban reggaeton singer known as Taiger, was arrested in the state of Florida on alleged charges of armed robbery and physical assault.
A report from the newspaper The New Herald The report said the artist was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center (TGKCC) following his arrest early Sunday morning.
For his part, the influencer identified as un_martitodurako8_live_oficial stated on Instagram that Taiger was arrested following a complaint from his partner, Suilen Díaz.
Likewise, the influencer released a video about an oral hearing of the artist on July 29 in court, in which the reggaeton singer He had not even hired the services of a lawyer.
In this regard, Judge Mindy Glazer recommended that he seek legal representation after reminding him that he had allegedly committed a robbery using force and carrying out a physical assault.
“Sir, do you want me to give you an opportunity to appear in the afternoon with your lawyer, or do you want to be granted bail right now and go before the division judge tomorrow?” Glazer asked.
Taiger requested bail, but the judge explained that it would not be possible because he had the aggravating factor of a felony.
During the oral hearing, the judge stated that the accused had to stay completely away from the alleged victim, Suilen Díaz.
“He cannot have any contact with the victim, whether direct or indirect, in person, through third parties, in writing, by phone, through social media or other electronic means. He must stay at least 500 feet (152 meters) away from the victim.”
To date, Díaz has not made any statements to the press or on social media regarding the case.
Taiger’s arrest follows that of other urban music exponents residing in the US, such as Yosvanis Arismin Sierra Hernandez (Chocolate MC), and Abel Diaz Rodriguez (El Chulo).
