Roberto Picón pointed out through his Twitter account that a proposal related to the rules and procedures that facilitate the updating of the Electoral Registry and the exercise of suffrage by Venezuelans abroad is being worked on.
The principal rector of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Roberto Picón reported this Tuesday, August 9, that Together with Enrique Márquez, they work on projects related to the vote of Venezuelans abroad and technical assistance in the event of a possible primary opposition process.
Picón pointed out through his Twitter account that both “They work on the proposal of regulations and procedures that facilitate the updating of the Electoral Registry and the exercise of the suffrage of Venezuelans abroad, which supposes a process that from now on would involve other instances.
Regarding the primaries, he pointed out that they have had meetings with political representatives grouped in the Unitarian Platform to review the experiences where the CNE provided technical assistance to the requesting organizations, based on their proposals for positions to be elected and the geographical distribution of voting centers.
To date, the opposition coalition has not decided on the primary process to choose the candidate who will be measured in upcoming presidential elections. Several pre-candidates have already stated that the electoral body should not participate in the organization of this process.

«It remains for the political actors to make the request and the corresponding technical proposals. We are aware that it is up to these actors to make the relevant political and technical decisions,” said Picón.
He warned that the electoral entity works “as a collegiate body”, whose decision-making body is the directory. “Each rector is competent to present the projects and proposals that he deems appropriate, within the powers of the electoral power.”
