The President of the Republic, Iván Duque, decided to dismiss the director of Civil Aeronautics, Jair Fajardo. The official was declared non-subsistent.

On July 6, 2021, Jair Fajardo was appointed director of Civil Aeronautics.
And through decree 1149 of 2022 of the Presidency of the Republic, the head of state ordered to declare the non-subsistence of the position. Transport Minister Ángela María Orozco signed said decree.
The Air Secretary, Francisco Ospina will replace Fajardo.
But why was that decision made?
His dismissal, according to sources from the Ministry of Transport, had been sounding in the entity since the results of the second round of the presidential elections, for poor results in his management as director, especially with Aerocafé and its low execution, so much so, that according to the source, the Vice Minister of Transportation appeared on the subject.

To this was added mistakes made by the director in the connection process with the new government, on an alleged liquidation of the Aerocafé contract and on the administration of the Cartagena airport
In this regard, the President of the Republic, Iván Duque Márquez, appointed Francisco Ospina Ramirez, who held the position of aeronautical secretary.
Ospina Ramírez has more than 18 years of experience in the public and private sectors of the aerospace industry. He is a commercial pilot and mechanical engineer, with specialization in Aviation Safety Management and specialty in aeronautical maintenance. She has a Master of Science with a specialization in Systems Engineering and a Master of Science with a specialization in Engineering Management, as well as a Master of Aeronautical Management.

Ospina will be in charge of the consolidation of the connection process with the new government from a technical and operational perspective, as well as to guarantee the progress of the execution of airport projects, such as the completion of the works of the Guillermo Leon Valencia Airport, of Popayan, and the works of the El Embrujo airport, of Providence, among others.
