The lawyer and former director of the General Directorate of Revenue (DGI), Publio Cortés, referred to the judge of Guarantees of Panama and the use of unlicensed software by state forensic technicians.
He asserted that the institutional dilemma we have is how far there are budget limitation problems of the justice system. “At the end of all those problems you can’t look at the technicians as ‘well, they had to do it,’” he added.
He specified that the human rights of someone who is being investigated with illicit evidence may be being violated. “This is a debate, in my opinion, that transcends the particular case and involves us all,” said the lawyer.
