The reformist deputy Máximo Castro Silverio asked the Minister of Economy, Planning and Development, Pavel Isa, to resign after his complaint that a feeling of hatred and racism against Haitians has been sown in the Dominican Republic; or else that President Luis Abinader cancels him from office.
While the perremeísta deputy Orlando Jorge Villegas asked government officials for prudence that with their statements they can damage the image of President Abinader.
Castro Silverio said that apparently Pavel Isa does not know what the position of the Dominican government is in relation to the Haitian issue and recalled that President Abinader has already established the position that the country cannot bear the problems of these nationals.
“The least that can be asked against that official is that he should resign due to these misguided pronouncements or the President of the Republic should cancel him for trying to ignore the position of a country that has opened the door and has always been willing to help our brothers. Haitians”.
At the same time, he rejected that Dominicans have any kind of hatred, or are racist towards Haitians, as the official stated.
He described as reckless and unfortunate the accusations of racism and hatred against Haitians by the Minister of Economy and Planning against Dominicans.
He said that when Pavel Isa says that Dominicans are racist and that they hate Haitians, he exposes the country to a confrontation with the inhabitants of the neighboring country.
“I think that minister got out of hand there, ignoring what the President of the Republic raised in the United Nations, I think you have to be very careful to deal with the Haitian issue,” said the PRSC deputy.
“Well, I think there are some officials who have to be careful with certain expressions because they definitely do not help the president,” said the legislator when asked for his reaction to Pavel Isa’s statements, in the sense that there is racism in the country. and hatred against Haitians.
