Wilfredo Chávez, Attorney General of the State, anticipated this Tuesday that the former Minister of Government, Arturo Murillo will soon plead “guilty” in the United States (USA), within the process that is followed for money laundering and bribery.
The authority, at a press conference, said that the former authority of the Government of Jeanine Áñez is exposed to a sentence of six years in prison. Then he must be extradited to the country to face the other cases against him..
“With this it is shown that the accusations made against the criminal group were not a political speech and less persecution, the crimes that have been committed are real, and the State was the victim of this criminal action”, stated the headline.
Murillo’s defense would have agreed with the US Attorney to exchange information to reduce the sentenceand it is expected that new dates of the procedural calendar will be set to know when the sentence will be issued.
The press conference:
“Murillo had chosen to be tried by the grand jury and the trial date was November 28 of this year, but, with the presentation of the indictment for information, he would have opted for the route of pleading guiltyaccepting the charges identified by the Prosecutor’s Office”, explained Chávez.
He confirmed that the declaration of “guilty” is imminent and will take place in the “short time”, so that the court is summoned for a hearing and the sentence is known, as happened with the other four involved in the case, who are serving sentences of one to 10 years.
The prosecution asks the confiscation, in favor of the United States, of assets in which Murillo has a stake and the delivery of at least 532,000 dollars, funds involved in the “conspiracy” or others that have been transferred to third parties, according to what the prosecutor read.
