“The dialogue is full of differences, but we reiterate the purpose of working together to defend the right of Colombians to choose how to mobilize”, stated José Daniel López, who also reiterated the importance of regulating and not prohibiting the operation of mobility apps, since the income of nearly 100,000 drivers and more than 8 million users would be affected.
At the meeting, the drivers explained that people prefer mobility by these means, since, “For example, in the case of women who feel safer on the platforms, we ask for no more exclusion and also an end to the persecution by the authorities for drivers and users”.

The ICT Minister, Sandra Urrutia, pointed out that the communications portfolio is willing to participate in more dialogue sessions, in order to mediate, advance legislation and reach agreements in the collaborative economy.
“Colombia deserves to have a legal framework that accompanies the reality offered by technology and laws and regimes should not ignore its use. The principle of network neutrality would be wrong and here we must promote the care of people and the use of these applicationsUrrutia added.
The tables will seek to build a public policy on the use of platforms in transport, in its different modalities, in which the representatives of all the actors (direct and indirect) will participate, for the construction of solutions that contribute to the improvement of the service to the users.

Minister Reyes was emphatic that the government’s idea has never been to exclude people Y “The realities cannot be ignored, the provision of the transport service must be regularized, the construction process of the draft bill will continue but it will only be presented for consideration by the Congress of the Republic, once it is agreed and a consensus is obtained with all the actors“.
