Prison for the alleged murderer of Javier Ibarra, who also burned documents

Óscar Caballero Sahlmann refrained from testifying before the Prosecutor’s Office, which has already requested preventive detention for himself. The witness, also treated as an accomplice, was released for collaborating with the investigation.

During the investigative statement hearing held this morning in the Criminal Unit, before prosecutor Julio Ortiz, the defendant for intentional homicide, Óscar Caballero Sahlmann refrained from speaking.

However, the Court has already been asked to apply preventive prison, while the first steps of the investigation are carried out. The defendant will be confined in the Esperanza Penitentiary Unit.

After committing the crime, always according to the data handled by the Prosecutor’s Office, Caballero Sahlmann burned some papers that Ibarra kept in his fanny pack.

“Mr. Caballero apparently burned these documents in front of his home, in an abandoned house. The fire would have burned a lemon tree and according to him (witness) this burning can still be seen and therefore we have already asked the Police to check the place to corroborate this statement,” the prosecutor explained.

As for Leonardo Ruiz Ortiz, the man who transported the alleged murderer to Ibarra’s house, pOr now he will be released thanks to his contribution to the imminent clarification of the case.

“I just signed your freedom, now he is free, his contribution was fundamental, thanks to him we reached Óscar Caballero”, argued the representative of the Public Ministry in conversation with the media.

The title of the case changed to Intentional Homicide, Robbery resulting in death and Especially Serious Theft.
