The first vice president of Primero Justicia, Juan Pablo Guanipa, held a meeting with workers from the basic companies and with the communities of Bolívar state, whose central theme was the apathy that exists in the political, economic and social aspects of the country and to promote the primary elections as a first step to confront Nicolás Maduro in the 2024 presidential elections.

“We have to achieve a unitary presidential candidacy, and that this standard-bearer assumes the fight so that there are electoral conditions in 2024,” said Guanipa.

Unlike other parties that have already announced their pre-candidate for the primaries, Guanipa acknowledged that they are behind in the selection of the representative of Primero Justicia, but it will be up to the Political Committee to establish the regulations for the choice.

“What the statutes say regarding the presidential candidacy is that the Political Committee proposes the candidate and the congress of Primero Justicia, which is all of its members, endorses the candidacy. We have to wait for the regulations that are going to be established so that the candidacies arise and a standard-bearer is chosen, ”he explained.

In that sense, it will be after September 24 when the party holds its Political Committee for the appointment of the new national board of directors, which will have 45 days to approve a regulation on the choice of the presidential candidate.

Voters abroad

On the other hand, although the participation of Venezuelans abroad in the presidential elections is one of the demands of the National Electoral Council (CNE), the question also arose as to whether they will be able to participate in the opposition primaries.

“We are convinced that no Venezuelan can lose their rights, regardless of the country they are in and the condition they are in. We are going to fight so that they can vote in the primaries and in the presidential elections of 2024. We understand that the process is difficult, but it is possible”, he stated.

Likewise, Guanipa pointed out that the CNE should already set and announce a date for the presidential elections.

Considering past experiences such as the advancement of the presidential elections in 2018, or the violation of the Organic Law of Electoral Processes and its regulations in the gubernatorial elections in 2017, they do not rule out that the regime expects the announcement of the date of the primaries to Set a schedule for you.

“There are many obstacles. It is possible that the regime wants to play with the date of the elections, as it did in 2017 and 2018. We are aware that this can happen, as well as that the candidate who is elected in the primaries will immediately be disqualified, ”he warned.

According to the debates in relation to the pre-candidacies that may arise in primaries, in addition to those already confirmed, in the case of Primero Justicia, the names that are in the arena are those of Juan Pablo Guanipa and Carlos Ocaríz.
