Priest Uriel Vallejos manages to leave the parish house where he was locked up for three days due to the police siege

On the morning of this Thursday, August 4, the priest Uriel Vallejos, pastor of the Divina Misericordia church in Sébaco, managed to leave the parish house where he was under siege, since since August 1, he had been isolated by the police fence of which he was a victim.

According to the press, sources on condition of anonymity indicated that the Police officers withdrew from the area at about 10 in the morning of this Thursday, August 4; which allowed the father together with the religious brothers who accompanied him to leave the parish house.

After the arbitrary closure of six Catholic stations, which were canceled by the Nicaraguan Institute of Telecommunications and Post Office (Telcor), last Monday; The Ortega police in Matagalpa surrounded the entire area from the Catholic radio station in Sébaco to the Colegio San Luis Gonzaga, which is run by the priest.

The newspaper La Prensa revealed that the priest Uriel Vallejos survived on the basis of “water and bread, although he is in good health despite suffering from diabetes”

The prelate remained isolated in the parish house for three days and during this time, he kept the population informed through his Twitter account, in which he showed that he hardly slept and his food was scarce.

According to images released by the Divina Misericordia parish, where the bells ring as a warning signal, dozens of parishioners came to the place to defend the facilities and equipment of Radio Católica, who were repelled by the police with shots in the air and tear gas. It is unknown if the police intend to arrest him.

In this new attack by the Daniel Ortega regime against the Catholic Church, several injuries were reported, including an older adult with an injury to his left eye.

Human rights defenders and opposition groups have condemned the attack, arguing that “Ortega discharges hatred and revenge against the Catholic Church”.

Father Vallejos has become another target of the dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo, who has launched a “hunt” against Catholic leaders, imprisoning priests Manuel Salvador Garcia Y Jose Leonard Urbina, accused of common crimes
