The head of the Government of Caracas, Nahum Fernández stressed that due to the preventive work that the authorities have been doing together with the communities, there are no victims to mourn due to the landslide due to saturation that occurred this Monday in one of the areas of the Mirador del January 23.
This, despite the fact that 14 houses totally collapsed and 66 were affected in the La Ladera 2 sector of that Caracas parishdue to the heavy rains this Monday afternoon in the capital city.
«Thanks to this preventive work, tours were being carried out both on January 23 and in Federico Quiroz, as well as in Santa Ana, in the places that we know are high risk in the city of Caracas. And of course we have no victims to mourn thanks to that preventive work that has been directed by President Nicolás Maduro, “said Fernández.
In this regard, he highlighted the permanent deployment of the security organs to guarantee preventive work. “Here is the National Guard, the People’s Guard, the Zodi Capital, Alexander Nébreda who runs the risk tables of the city of Caracas, the firefighters and the Caracas Mayor’s Office,” he said.

He also highlighted the deployment of communal power with the presence of community leaders, street leaders, and the UBCH, guaranteeing solidarity support to the affected families.

Activated three shelters for affected families
On the other hand, Fernández reported that on the instructions of President Nicolás Maduro they have activated and conditioned three shelters together with the Mayor’s Office of Caracas for the protection of the affected families. Regarding damages in other areas of the city due to heavy rains this Monday, Fernández reported that, together with security agencies, the GDC team remains active in all risk areas of Caracas, attending to various situations that have arisen. in Las Mayas, Santa Ana, La Vega, Antímano and Macarao.
