From the National Emergency Office (Onemi) they decreed an early preventive alert in ten communes of the Metropolitan region for a possible electrical storm.
This after the meteorological warning of the Meteorological Directorate of Chile (DMC), where electrical storms are expected in the Andean sector of the region between the afternoon of this Tuesday, September 27, and the night of Wednesday, September 28.
The declaration of alert is established “as a state of reinforcement of surveillance, through precise and rigorous monitoring of risk conditions and the respective vulnerabilities associated with the threat, coordinating and activating the National System for Prevention and Response to Disasters (SINAPRED )”, they indicated from Onemi.
In order to “act in a timely manner in the face of possible emergency situations”, the communes that entered the preventive early warning from Monday and until the weather conditions warrant it are the following:
- Hill
- Vitacura
- The Counts
- The Queen
- Lo Barnechea
- Penalolen
- Florida
- High Bridge
- San Jose de Maipo
- pique
Regarding the protection measures to be taken against the possible meteorological phenomenon, the Office recommended that the population stay in a safe place and avoid going out (unless it is absolutely necessary), avoid proximity to machinery, metal bars, fences and electrical and/or telephone lines, do not use radio equipment, GPS devices, fixed or mobile telephones during the storm.
