The Presidential Delegation of the Valparaíso Region, in coordination with the National Emergency Office of the Ministry of the Interior (Onemi), declared a red alert this Thursday afternoon for the communes of Villa Alemana and Valparaíso due to forest fires.
According to Onemi, the incident that affects Villa Alemana is called Quebrada Escobar and is in combat. The fire has consumed an approximate area of 50 hectares of vegetation.
With the declaration of red alert, “all the necessary and available resources will be mobilized, in additional support to what has already been deployed by Conaf, Firefighters and the National System for Prevention and Response to Disasters (Sinapred) in this way, action will be taken to control the situation, given the extent and severity of the event,” Onemi said in a statement.
A technician, four brigades and six tankers from the National Forestry Corporation (Conaf) work at the site, supported by the Villa Alemana Fire Department and municipal personnel.

Red alert in Valparaíso
The Presidential Delegation also declared a red alert in Valparaíso, due to the fire called La Planchada.
The incident is in combat and has consumed an area of 0.5 hectares. It develops in the vicinity of inhabited sectors.
Two brigades, three Conaf planes, supported by the Valparaíso Fire Department, work at the site.
