President Piñera rejects armed conflict in Europe: "Chile condemns Russia's armed aggression and its violation of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity"

The President of the Republic, Sebastían Piñera, using his personal Twitter account, condemned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which has meant the death of more than 50 people so far in the eastern part of the European country.

“Chile condemns Russia’s armed aggression and its violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. These acts violate international law and threaten innocent lives, international peace and security”

On the other hand, the President called for Russia to respect international treaties, such as the Geneva Conventions, and to seek a peaceful solution to the conflict, the most serious since World War II.

“Chile urges Russia to respect the Geneva Conventions on international humanitarian law. We will collaborate with other countries to seek a peaceful solution to the conflict, within the framework of international law and the Charter of Nations,” he concluded.
