“For us, a visit like yours is very important, at a time as difficult as the one our country is experiencing, when so many hostile campaigns are woven around the Revolution,” the president stressed.
According to the official website of the Presidency, Díaz-Canel thanked the Party of the European Left for its permanent support in the fight against the blockade imposed by the United States.
«All the support that you have given to the Cuban medical missions that have been in Europe; all the campaigns they have carried out in favor of Cuba; and how they have also supported us in the vaccination campaign with donations they have made », he pointed out.
For his part, Heinz Bierbaum commented on the pleasure it means to be in the Greater Antilles this week and ratify solidarity with the Caribbean people.
“We know very well that we have very difficult times, not only in Cuba, and I believe that the world situation is characterized by very high tensions, with complex international conflicts,” he said.
Likewise, he reiterated the condemnation of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States on the island, which he considered as “the greatest obstacle to economic and social development in Cuba.”
“We are here to learn more and better about the situation in Cuba because there is a lot of false information, there is a lot of fake news about Cuba, and it is very important that there is authentic information,” he pointed out.
In addition, Heinz Bierbaum thanked the Communist Party of Cuba for organizing this visit.
The delegation, also made up of its first vice president, the Spanish politician Maite Mola, as well as other leaders, arrived in Cuba on February 12 and will remain in the national territory until the next day 19.
