Leonardo Cipriani, president of the Board of Directors of the State Health Services Administration (Asse) maintained that after the training, next year they will go out to work “on the field”, in the territory, generating concrete actions not only in the Health Centers, but also in Schools and Sports Clubs.
“Working on the prevention and promotion of health in childhood and adolescence is key to the development of a healthy and prosperous society” In this sense, the director of Asse announces that he will work in coordination with the Directorate of Mental Health .
The increase in suicides is a matter of concern worldwide, with Uruguay being the country that leads the figures in Latin America. Cipriani added that although when talking about suicide, or attempted self-elimination, multiple causes must be considered, it cannot be overlooked that according to statistics from the Ministry of Public Health itself, in 19% of these situations in minors, they have at Bullying or School Harassment as a trigger or perhaps the main reason.
When episodes of bullying occur, they leave lifelong marks on both the aggressor and the victim, who may develop eating disorders, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, substance use or violence.
Cipriani’s statements took place a few days ago during the Bullying Dynamics Training Day, by Ms. Silvana Giachero, a reference in our country on this sensitive issue. In that instance, the president of Asse stressed that the silence is being “broken” on the issue of bullying.
