President Jair Bolsonaro considers restructuring PRF and Depen careers

President Jair Bolsonaro signaled this Thursday (19) that there is a possibility of creating a proposal to restructure the careers of agents of the Federal Highway Police and the National Penitentiary Department (Depen). The idea is to equate these careers with that of a Federal Police (PF) agent, who currently earns about R$12,500 a month in starting salary.President Jair Bolsonaro considers restructuring PRF and Depen careers

“This is the impasse that is happening. There is no recourse, this is what we can do differently for the staff of the Penitentiary Department [Depen] and the Federal Highway Police”, said the president during the live weekly on social media.

At the end of last year, Bolsonaro had promised to allocate an already foreseen amount of R$ 1.7 billion to readjust the salaries of federal security agents, which are precisely federal police officers, prison agents and federal highway police officers. However, civil servants in other careers reacted badly to the salary increase exclusively for the security forces and the government reassessed the proposal.

Due to the uncertainty surrounding who will receive the readjustment, several categories have promoted stoppages and standard operations since the end of last year, including employees of the National Institute of Social Security (INSS), the Central Bank, the Federal Revenue, among others.

In recent months, the federal government’s proposal became a linear adjustment of 5% for all careers in the federal public service, which should cost around R$ 6.3 billion from the budget, which will need to be relocated from other areas in order to comply with the constitutional rule of the public spending ceiling. During the livethe president mentioned this proposal again, but considered that the decision has not yet been taken.

“We make an effort to give a readjustment, which I know is small, for the servers. A suggestion, it’s not beaten the hammer, I make it clear, it’s 5%. This is equivalent to more cuts in the ministries”, he explained.

In the coming days, informed the president, federal government negotiators should meet with representatives of civil servants’ unions to discuss the possibility of a linear adjustment of 5% for all servers, in addition to the specific restructuring of the careers of Depen and PRF.

For next year, Bolsonaro informed that the budget bill provides resources for salary readjustments and restructuring of other careers in the public service.
