Peasant leaders affirm that deaths in Tiguipaya were due to political struggles and accuse the mayor

The leadership of the peasants of Potosí accused this Thursday the mayor of Tinguipaya, Marcial Yucra, and the peasant leader, Julián Mamani, of being the intellectual authors of the death of two peasants in the brawls on Sunday. They ruled out that it was a question of disputes over territory, as reported by the Minister of Government, Carlos Eduardo Del Castillo.

“We want to denounce comrade Julián Mamani who is from the provincial central, he has been unknown, because he has betrayed the political instrument at the time, he has turned around a political party that is Alianza Social, at the time they have caused the division politics for their personal interests, from there comes the organic fractionation and the division in the political issue of the municipality of Tinguipaya”, launched the leader Tomás Acarapi, according to the Kollasuyo radio report.

On Sunday, May 15, the municipality of Tinguipaya convened, together with six ayllus, a mass act attended by the vice president, David Choquehuanca. After that act began the consumption of alcoholic beverages that led to clashes between the two sectors and caused the death of two peasants; although the denouncing leaders only demand justice for the death of one of them, not both.

Police reported that there are difficulties to enter to investigate to the area due to the strong opposition that the peasants put up when it comes time to declare. According to the Minister of Government, Carlos Eduardo Del Castillo, the fight on Sunday would have originated in land conflicts, but the leaders assure that it was due to political struggles

Thus, they asked that the mayor and community leaders be prosecuted for the death of Gregorio Cruz, who would be one of those killed in those clashes. They avoided mentioning who the second victim was and they also did not know the injured.

“We are denouncing that the summons was from the mayor of Tinguipaya, Marcial Yucra Mendo, in coordination with the supposed headquarters of Julián Mamani Castro, and the fellow national director of Senarecom, fellow Mauricio Mamani, has also been there. who have summoned the people under fine”, assured the peasant leader.

The three leaders who offered the press conference accused the mayor of Tinguipaya, saying that the requirement was a fine of more than Bs 100 who does not attend the opening call for a school of leaders.
