President Gabriel Boric announces permanent national policy for the development of extreme areas

Within the framework of his visit to the Magallanes region, the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric, met this Thursday with the leaders of the two Communal Unions of Punta Arenas, a moment where he took the opportunity to announce a new permanent national policy. This, in the midst of the government’s agenda that contemplates a strengthening of the State’s presence for the development of extreme areas.

The importance of the announcement lies in the fact that this new policy would replace the so-called special plans for the development of extreme areas (PEDZE) in force, which were conceived in 2014 as an “extraordinary” support measure from the State, being replaced by a support program more robust permanent.

“In the second government of President Bachelet, a development plan for extreme areas was exceptionally created. Today I want to announce that I have commissioned our undersecretary for regional development, Miguel Crispi, to turn the development plan into a permanent national and public policy,” he said.

“We must think about the well-being of citizens and not about how our sector wins so that the other loses,” said the President, taking advantage of highlighting the “popular organization of neighbors”, given its important role in “rebuilding the fabric society in Chile.
