Colombian President Iván Duque, who will hand over his command on August 7, challenged in an interview the head of the Second Marquetalia, alias Iván Márquez, to “come out, make a video as he likes, speaking from Venezuela.” .
Duke, in conversation with the weekly magazinereferred to the rumors about the health of Iván Márquez and the attack he suffered in Venezuela, where he had been hiding for some years after declaring the Second Marquetalia of the FARC.
“Some sources assure that he died in a confused act in Venezuela. Others say that he is in a hospital in a very serious state of health, practically in a vegetative state. About that I have always believed that you have to be patient, look at what the intelligence sources throw up, but the truth is that Narcotalia no longer has Santrich, El Paisa, Romaña, Gentil and Iván Mordisco. Narcotalia has ceased to exist”, assured the president.
Several of the deceased guerrilla leaders mentioned by the Colombian president are also presumed to have died in attacks carried out in Venezuela.
The Second Marquetalia issued a statement days ago confirming the attack against its main leader. “On June 30, 2022, Commander Iván Márquez was the victim of a criminal attack directed from the Army barracks and the Police commandos. Fortunately, he was unharmed, he only suffered minor injuries and is in good health.”
For this reason, Duque summoned him that if the injuries he suffered in the attack were really minor, that he broadcast a video “speaking from Venezuela” to confirm his state of health.
