Members of the Panamanian Episcopal Conference (CEP) and President Laurentino Cortizo Cohen; held a meeting to address issues of national events.
The president detailed the progress in terms of economic reactivation, education, citizen security, justice, the Bicentennial Pact Closing Gaps and on the vaccination process against Covid-19.
He specified that the most important public policy for the country’s economic recovery has been the vaccination process, which has been fundamental in the economic recovery that the country has experienced.
With the reactivation of more than 1,103 projects of previous administrations that were abandoned, the economic recovery has been underpinned, among which he mentioned the City of Health, the Manuel Amador Guerrero Hospital and the Mariano Bula Stadium, said the president.
He stressed that the Government has continued with the execution of agricultural programs for the country’s producer sector, which experienced considerable growth during the Covid-19 pandemic.
On the subject of security, the head of state pointed out that in October of this year a historical record in drug seizure was broken, with 112 tons. In the same period of 2020, 86 tons were seized. And he specified that in the country 70% of homicides are related to organized crime crimes.
The Chief Executive reiterated to the members of the CEP that justice is the backbone of democracy and in that sense highlighted the appointment of five magistrates in the Supreme Court of Justice.
