President Boric rules out his presence at a meeting for peace in La Araucanía: He will go to the region when he has "proposals for solutions"

President Gabriel Boric ruled out traveling to Araucanía for the meeting for peace that will take place this Wednesday and assured that when he goes to the region it will be with “proposals for solutions.” This, after his presentation in Cerro Navia of the “Program 4 to 7” that is part of the Chile Supports plan, promoted by the Government.

In that instance, the president was asked about his attendance at the meeting for peace in La Araucanía, before which Boric ruled out his presence, explaining that “we have also learned that in order to have long-term solutions in the conflict between the Chilean state and the Mapuche people it is necessary to work without great fuss”.

Along these lines, he maintained “not only talking about dialogue, which is the method, but about which port we want to reach and that has to do with land.”

“Today we were seeing the applicability requests with the Minister of Social Development and in recent years the budget has decreased significantly and the purchase of land has stagnated,” he specified.

“That is the heart of the conflict. I am never going to evade difficult problems and when I go to La Araucanía we are going to go with proposals for solutions. We have been permanently talking to the summit where the 32 mayors will participate and our delegate will attend. President (Raúl) Allard,” said the President.

“He is the one who precisely represents us in the area, but I will also be in permanent contact with Luciano Rivas, who is the governor and of whom I have the best opinion. I hope this contributes to the process of rebuilding trust in La Araucanía” , he concluded.
