After a competition for the High Public Management system, the President gabriel boric appointed this Tuesday the lawyer Marie-Claude Plummer as the new Superintendent of the Environment.
Remember that the lawyer Emanuel Ibarra Soto Until now, they had acted as substitute superintendents, awaiting the next holder of the position.
Claude has a “master’s degree (DEA) in Environmental Law from the University of Paris I-II Panthéon-Sorbonne and has specialized studies in Economic Management of the Environment and Natural Resources, at the Institute of Public Administration and the University of Alcalá de Henares, Spain,” said a statement from the Ministry of the Environment.
“In addition, he has a diploma in Generic Management Competences for Senior Public Management, from the Universidad del Desarrollo and Newfield Consulting,” the text adds.
From the Government they also highlighted that Claude has “vast experience in public administration on environmental issues.”
“She worked as a lawyer for the Legal Division of the National Environmental Commission (Conama) for 14 years and as a prosecutor for the Superintendence of the Environment (SMA) between 2011 and 2012, an entity where she also held the position of head of the Sanction and Compliance Division between 2014 and 2018,” they indicated.
Currently, Claude is the head of the Legal Division of the Ministry of the Environment.
During her career, she has also worked as an independent consultant and adviser to the Directorate of Borders and Limits. She also worked as a professor at the Catholic University of Valparaíso, Development University, and Santiago University, and has published various publications on environmental matters.
Selection process
The process to fill the position began in June of this year with the publication of the call on the Civil Service website and in national newspapers. In total, 172 applications were received through the Online Application System and five applications through the specialized search service.
Based on the results of the evaluation of the candidates, the Senior Public Management Council decided to interview 10 applicants, after which it prepared the final list that it sent to the President, so that he could make his selection.
