President Boric appointed Bachelet’s former Minister of Housing to lead reconstruction after fires

The President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric Font, traveled to the Quillón commune in the Ñuble region, where he held a new day of field work, in line with his deployment in recent days, as a result of the forest fires that engulf the central-southern part of the country.

In addition, the President took advantage of the instance to designate the former Minister of Housing and Urbanism, Paulina Saball, as the person in charge of the reconstruction in the context of the fires that affect the central south and south zone.

In relation to this last point, President Boric stated that Saball is “a professional with a long career, who has extensive experience in the public sector, was Undersecretary of National Assets (…) was Undersecretary of Housing during the first Government of President Bachelet and was Minister of Housing during the four years of the second. She and she, therefore, she knows the State, she knows where to press to move this forward ”.

“I have full confidence in the coordination work that the person in charge Paulina Saball will carry out will allow us to move in the right direction,” he added.

Regarding the working day, early in the morning the President of the Republic, together with the mayor of the commune, Miguel Peña, toured the San Ramón sector, where he was able to verify on the ground the work of the Ministry of Public Works and the coordination of the neighbors and neighbors to organize help.

Finally, the President went to the Municipality, where he met with the Liaison Minister, Esteban Valenzuela; the Undersecretary of Social Services, Francisca Perales, regional authorities and the Chief of Defense, General Jorge Salinas.

The instance served to coordinate the parallel deployment of the fire mitigation work, the early care of those affected and finally the reconstruction, including the Recovery Plan and Early Aid from the Government.
