The unemployment rate is falling and heading towards single digits in Brazil. The estimate was made by President Jair Bolsonaro, during lunch with businessmen and political leaders, this Wednesday (8), at the Commercial Association of Rio de Janeiro.
“In the pandemic, there were supposed to be 6 million unemployed. We had a positive balance in 2020. In 2021, almost 3 million new jobs. This was done by listening to my ministers. We avoid unemployment. And how is the job at the moment? I’m sure that, in another month, the number of unemployed in Brazil will reach single digits,” Bolsonaro said.
The president cited the figures for the economy, which, according to him, are strengthening the country’s position on the international scene, through foreign policy. “The numbers clearly demonstrate what is happening to us. We are back to being the tenth largest economy in the world. The GDP is there. Trust in Brazil. We have an excellent foreign policy, led by Minister Carlos França. The whole world talks to us. Brazil is a country of the present, it is no longer the country of the future. You just don’t see those who don’t want to”, said the president.
Bolsonaro also highlighted the creation of Auxílio Brasil during the pandemic, which benefited 68 million people, mainly informal workers. “Informal people were condemned to starve inside the house, but they were not going to starve inside the house. They would go to the streets looking for food,” he added.
Still on the period of the pandemic, the president recalled the creation of the National Support Program for Micro and Small Businesses (Pronampe). “There was a negotiation and we avoided unemployment,” he said.
elections
President Jair Bolsonaro said he will respect the results of the polls, whoever the winner is, with the need to ensure the smoothness of the process. “We all want clean and transparent elections. Win whoever wins. Clean and transparent elections”, he stressed, adding that “if someone wants to vote for another, in a clean, transparent, auditable vote, no problem. We won’t have a problem in Brazil”.
navy
In the morning, President Jair Bolsonaro participated in the graduation ceremony of the Special Qualification Course for Promotion to Sergeant, at the Almirante Alexandrino Instruction Center (CIAA), in the north of Rio de Janeiro.
1,560 students from the José Bonifácio Group graduated from the course, the name chosen, according to the Navy, in allusion to the patriarch of the Independence of Brazil, a feat that celebrates its 200th anniversary this year.
