President Abinader will lead the V CEAPI Congress in Punta Cana

Santo Domingo.- The President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, and the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Mipymes, Víctor -Ito- Bisonó will participate in the fifth edition of the Alliance for Ibero-America Business Council (CEAPI), which will be held for the first time in land Latin American and that under the title of ‘Innovation and opportunities in times of uncertainty’, will take place next June 1 and 2 in Punta Cana.

The Dominican Head of State will be responsible for initiating this fifth edition of the Congress, a high-level forum for the analysis of current challenges and opportunities in the region, which will bring together some of the most prominent figures from the main Ibero-American companies, leading business families and prominent personalities in the region.

With his speech at the opening ceremony, Abinader intends to vindicate the key role played by the Dominican Republic in the economic and social recovery of the region after the Covid pandemic and in the configuration of a stronger, more dynamic, more sustainable and more innovative.

For his part, the Minister of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs, together with Núria Vilanova, president of CEAPI, will have an outstanding speech in a tribute to the outstanding Colombian businessman and banker Jaime Gilinski, winner of the VIII Enrique V. Iglesias Prize for Business Development Iberoamerican.

Bisonó will also give the opening speech of one of the most outstanding round tables of the Congress, the one referring to the analysis of the role of the new free zones in Ibero-American industrial development, specifically of the relocation and nearshoring processes that are emerging in the region .

The Congress, which will take place at the Punta Cana Resort & Club, will also include other Dominican figures of great relevance in the national economy, and who will serve as speakers at the different round tables, such as Felipe A. Vicini, Executive President from START; Frank Rainieri, president of Grupo Puntacana; Paola Rainieri, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Public Relations and Communications at Grupo Puntacana; Juana Barceló, president of Barrick Gold Corporation; Luis Mejía, CEO of EGE Haina; José Miguel González Cuadra, president of the National Cuesta Center.

Also Ligia Bonetti, executive president and CEP of Grupo SID; Claudia and Luis Manuel Pellerano, president and commercial director of Las Américas Industrial Free Zone, respectively; Pierina Pumarol, CEO of Mapfre BHD Seguros or Patricia de Moya, president of Mercado Media Network.

All of them will contribute the local point of view in the analysis of economic, commercial, business and investment news in Ibero-America as a whole, looking at the future opportunities offered by the country and exploring the possibilities offered by innovation, digitization and technology as essential ways to promote sustainable growth in the region.

Regarding the choice of Punta Cana as the host city to host this fifth edition of the Congress, Núria Vilanova, president of CEAPI, stressed that, for the association, “it is an honor to celebrate such a special edition in a country like the Dominican Republic , which is acquiring a prominent position in the Ibero-American framework as an indisputable actor of development, innovation and growth in the region”.
