President Luis Abinader said during a meeting with general managers of hotel chains in Punta Cana that, with the restoration of tourism in the country, the economy has fully recovered.
“Without recovering tourism, the Dominican economy does not recover and today by recovering tourism, we have fully recovered the Dominican economy; By the end of the year the country will be more than 4% positive overall in the economy in relation to the pre-COVID era ”, assured the president.
The Head of State stated that the key to economic recovery is the joint work that the corresponding entities have been carrying out.
He reiterated that both the State and the tourism sector are being a reference in the world in terms of the recovery of the economy and in the face of the aftermath of COVID-19.
The Minister of Tourism David Collado He indicated that the authorities are currently betting on a new generation that acts and practices differently in the exercise of public administration.
He argued that they have been part of this recovery, and that it is an achievement of a joint effort by the entire tourism cabinet and a public-private alliance.
In another order, he announced that this year the Dominican Republic will be the partner country in the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) and that for the first time a President of the Republic will attend the event, a fact that he offered after President Abinader announced that he would attend the event.
During the meeting, some hotel managers said that the recovery of tourism is going well and thanked President Abinader for having the vision and giving the sector the importance it deserves at this time, as the engine of development of the country.
They said they were grateful for the measures that have been taken in favor of the sector, since they understand that for the first time they have felt protected and the problems of tourism have been solved diligently and efficiently.
