The Maritime Authority of Panama (AMP), held a meeting to familiarize the new Maritime Alert System of Panama, which had the participation of all parties involved in risk management such as: National Aeronaval Service (Senan), System National Civil Protection (Sinaproc), Panamanian Red Cross, National Police, Civil Aeronautics Authority, Panama Fire Department, among others.
The Panama Maritime Alert system aims to reduce the risk of maritime incidents, accidents and catastrophes, avoid the loss of human life and will also be able to provide information on natural disaster threats, pollution, fires, explosions, lost people. , damaged vessels and possible shipwrecks that occur in our jurisdictional waters.
This early warning system will be the first in our country and when it is in its 100% implementation, it can be downloaded on cell phones as AMP (Panama Maritime Alert) and will operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The administrator of the AMP, Noriel Araúz, pointed out that “it is our goal to considerably reduce accidents and human losses that occur at sea, we are sure that these new tools will help us save countless lives per year, in addition to providing support to smaller boats, pleasure or recreation, as well as those fishermen who work hard every day for their livelihood and to provide for thousands of Panamanian households ”.
