Political prisoner Luis Andrés Domínguez Sardiñas released

Havana Cuba. – The political prisoner Luis Andrés Domínguez Sardiñas was released this weekend after eight months in the Valle Grande prison accused of the crime of “enemy propaganda”, an act against State Security according to the laws of the Cuban regime.

“I was released thanks to a change of measure, but I am under house arrest until the day of the trial. Although I clarify that I do not abide by the arbitrary laws of the regime; So, if they wanted to keep me in prison, they would have left me in prison. I am going to work in my pedicab as I did before they arrested me,” Domínguez Sardiñas assured in an interview with CubaNet after leaving the prison.

According to his account, moments before being released, he was visited by the lieutenant colonel of State Security who identifies himself as Luis Miguel, who, according to what Domínguez Sardiñas said, tried to take credit for the release due to alleged “managements” carried out. .

“They released me because they (regime) had absolutely nothing against me (incriminating evidence). I did not commit any crime, there was no contempt, no enemy propaganda and now (with this confession) he (Luis Miguel) wants to attribute to himself that they are being fair, that State Security is fair, when everyone knows that this is far of the truth,” said the opponent.

According to the activist, the living conditions of prisoners have worsened inside Cuban prisons. He points to food and medical care as “extremely deficient.”

“Conditions in prison do not improve, poor medical care, poor nutrition, poor hygiene. The hygiene that exists is that the prisoner himself is able to provide himself with what the relatives bring him: a loafer, a broom, a mopping blanket, and with that is that the inmate ensures hygiene inside the prison. The prison management has never worried about that,” the interviewee explained.

Likewise, Domínguez Sardiñas assured CubaNet that he will not give up his work as a human rights activist and that he will continue “fighting” against the Cuban regime. “I am going to continue with the same trend, mine is Homeland and Life! and Down with the Dictatorship!” she emphasized.

Luis Andrés Domínguez Sardiñas, a member of the Orlando Zapata Tamayo Civic Action Front (FACOZT), was imprisoned by State Security in February of this year under the presumption that he was waiting for a package sent from abroad with the aim of forming an “underground” opposition group, and carry out alleged violent actions.

The activist, who has already been imprisoned five times for political reasons, was held for two months in Villa Marista, the Cuban State Security headquarters, while the authorities carried out the investigations. He was then transferred to the Valle Grande prison, where he remained until his recent release.
