The political prisoner and protester of July 11 Brenda Diazwill be accused of an alleged crime of contempt, after being beaten by an official of the “Cuba-Panama” prison, in Güines, where she is serving a sentence.
“On the 14th, my daughter Brenda will be tried by the Mayabeque province court for the alleged crime of contempt. What I don’t understand, if my daughter was brutally beaten and taken to a punishment cell for 15 days, she is the one who has to pay. Enough already, until when? “Her mother, Ana Mary García, wrote this Friday on Facebook.
As reported by Garcia to CyberCuba, the incident with Brenda was caused by a guard making a discriminatory comment against her.
“He told him: ‘This fag has made me tired.’ When Brenda demanded respect from her, she hit her with the tonfa and they put her in a punishment cell, ”García explained. Later she was sent to a punishment cell.
Her family fears that they will increase the young woman’s sentence and fabricate a crime to punish her.
Previously, García assured that State Security has asked him to stop using social networks and the media to denounce his daughter’s situation.
“I told her that she couldn’t do that because, if they were killing her that way… if I keep quiet, they’re going to kill her even more,” she asserted.
Brenda Díaz was sentenced to 14 years in prison for the alleged crimes of continuous public disorder and sabotage. Despite being a trans woman, the regime imprisoned her in the men’s section of the Cuba-Panama prison, where she was shaved shaved and forced to wear men’s clothing.
“My daughter is also not in good health. She has HIV, chronic gastritis since she was 10 years old, and a kidney problem. In jail, they don’t give her all the treatment she needs and that’s another concern for me.” his mother told CubaNet.
