The socio-political analyst, Emilio Castillo, referred this Monday to the results of the elections for the selection of the National Executive Committee (CEN) of the Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD), which took place on Sunday.

In Castillo’s opinion, it seems unfortunate that a group of approximately 700,000 adherents is represented in its majority by deputies who throughout their militancy both in the PRD and in the National Assembly, have been in the public arena for being everything that he should not be a politician whose primary interest is a better Panama.

“It is unfortunate because they are deputies who for a long time have gone against the values and principles that a political party should represent as a deputy within the Assembly. Perhaps for many it was not a surprise who was going to win and lose, but it leaves a bad taste in the mouth of the lively clientelism that was present in the internal elections of the PRD; at the end of the day we know that clientelism is created by the political parties themselves at the mercy of the need that exists in the population”, he sentenced.

He made reference to Pedro Miguel González, indicating that “we heard Pedro Miguel González say that delegates were promised jobs. We know what kind of clientelism was practiced in these elections.”

He stated that Benicio Robinson has already declared war on the Executive Branch, criticizing the Minister of Public Works (MOP), Rafael Sabonge. “We see that union discrepancy, internally they are totally divided.”
