The Police of the regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo took over the Mayor’s Office of Santa María de Pantasma, in Jinotega, according to citizen reports on social networks. That municipality is one of the five that the Supreme Electoral Council (CSE) assigned to the extinct opposition party Citizens for Freedom (CxL) in the 2017 voting.
The Mayor’s Office is managed by the mayor of CxL, Óscar Gadea Tinoco, who last week said on the program This Week that the municipal elections next November will be a “farce.” We tried to contact the mayor by phone, but he did not answer our calls or WhatsApp messages.

The residents denounced that since the early hours of the morning of this Saturday, July 2, several patrols and riot forces were stationed in the three streets that give access to the commune with the excuse of protecting the Mayor’s building from tropical storm Bonnie. .
Citizens identified the Sandinista Julio Siles as one of the executors of the takeover of the commune, they assure that he is a paramilitary in the area. The municipal political secretary of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN), Ramón López, would also be participating.
“The Mayor’s Office of Pantasma in Jinotega has been confiscated by the Ortega regime. The paramilitaries are already waving the Sandinista flag in the facilities and the police have besieged the center of the town, there has been no communication with the liberal mayor Óscar Gadea Tinoco,” opposition activist Alex Aguirre denounced.
In another tweet he stated: «They did not have the decency to wait for the municipal farce, today (Saturday, July 2) the ORMU (Ortega-Murillo) regime steals the Mayor’s Office of Pantasma, just as they did in Wiwilí, my solidarity with Mayor GadeaTinoco and the liberal town of Pantasma for this abuse of their government and municipal autonomy.
