The president of the PLD and former president, Danilo Medina, will lead a swearing-in ceremony for new members tomorrow in Barahona.
The act is scheduled to start at 10:00 in the morning at the Villa Central Basketball Pavilion in the main municipality and, according to the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), 13,000 new members will be sworn in to that party who registered in a digital platform.
The leader of the PLD develops an agenda for the swearing-in of new members that began on May 22 and will run until the end of July this year.
Meanwhile, the candidates for the presidential candidacy of the opposition organization will be in different parts of the country. Francisco Domínguez Brito was in La Vega yesterday and today he will travel to the capital to lead activities in constituency two of the National District at the Payero Club. Next Monday, June 20, he will visit and swear in his political team in Monción, Santiago Rodríguez.
On her side, Margarita Cedeño visited Santo Domingo Oeste yesterday and announced that today she will be in the Valverde province. For tomorrow, Sunday, she has scheduled an event with representatives of the educational community who support her project. The act will be in a Hotel in the Capital.
On his side, the mayor of Santiago and candidate for the PLD candidacy, Abel Martínez, announced a broad agenda of activities in six provinces from yesterday until tomorrow. Yesterday Friday he was in San José de Ocoa and today he will be in Hato Mayor, Seibo and La Altagracia. Tomorrow, Sunday, it will travel to La Romana and San Pedro de Macorís.
The PLD candidate has said that he has the support of most of the organization’s structures. According to his data, he has the support of 85% of the directors of municipal districts; 62% of the mayors of that organization throughout the country. Likewise, he has said that he has the support of 39 of the 59 deputies that the opposition party has.
The PLD has reported that it will choose the presidential candidacy on October 16 of this year, but because that date is out of law, it does not have the supervision of the Central Electoral Board.
The organization has not explained what the universe of voters will be for that appointment and has said that those registered in the organization’s register will be able to participate, as well as citizens registered in the national electoral register and who do not appear on the list of members of other matches.
The PLD has also not explained in which places it will make that election because the JCE refused to request the educational centers for those purposes.
