SANTO DOMINGO.- The former Minister of Education Carlos Amarante Baret was expelled this Saturday in a dishonorable manner and for high treason from the ranks of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD).
The dismissal of the member of the Political Committee was announced by the National Disciplinary and Ethics Court, chaired by Alejandrina Germán.
The decision is due to the fact that Amarante Baret threatened the unity of the party by trying to persuade other members to resign from the PLD and accompany him in the formation of a new political organization. These actions are considered serious offenses according to resolution number 12/2024, also signed by Manuel Galván (vice president), Gustavo Guzmán (secretary) and other members of the court.
