Considered one of the great prospects of Cuban pitching, Josimar Cousín left the island in January 2022 heading to the Dominican Republic, a springboard for the majority of talents who seek to show themselves to scouts from organizations of the so-called Big Top. There, he supported himself by training at the Pine Yuan Academy.
It should be noted that Josimar Cousín and fellow pitcher Yunior Tur, from Santiago, asked to retire from baseball in Cuba after being excluded from the Under 23 World Cup held in Mexico, a decision that, according to the sports authorities on the island, was due to ” ideological problems” detected in both players.
Cousín participated in six National Series with the cast of Camagüey and was reinforcement of the teams of Holguín, Pinar del Río and Las Tunas. The young man was a member of the national team that took part in the Premier 12 played in 2019.
According to Francys Romero, Cousín should be assigned to the Double-A level very soon, where he will play with the Birmingham Barons.
Last Monday, the reporter himself had informed that Cousín and the Chicago White Sox had reached a two-year agreement that would become official during the course of the week, as it finally did.
The Windy City franchise has been one of the franchises that has invested the most in Cuban talent in recent years. Currently, it has four players born on the Island on its active roster: catcher Yasmani Grandal, infielder Yoan Moncada, and outfielders Luis Robert Jr. and Oscar Luis Colás.
