MIAMI, United States. — Reggaeton player Jesús Alain Hernández, better known as “El Gladiador”, denounced the lamentable state of a Cuban cemetery.
The young man, visiting the island, showed on social networks images of a cemetery where there were skeletal remains piled up on the ground.
“We are right now in a cemetery in Cuba. You are looking at the pieces of people. Look at the heads of the people,” said “El Gladiador” in reference to the skulls of the deceased.
“That’s a lack of respect. For you to see the kind of nerve that is in this country, for you to see. This is not made up. This is right now in a cemetery in Cuba. Watch this movie, ”she lamented.
The singer, who shared the video on his Tik Tok account, did not identify the cemetery where he was.
“Your family can be here, mine… I ask for justice,” the young man wrote in his publication.
The COVID-19 pandemic, which caused more than 8,000 deaths (according to official figures) in Cuba, exposed the terrible state in which many comments on the island were, and still are, most of them completely saturated with corpses. .
In August 2021, the authorities of the city of Santa Clara were forced to extend the local cemetery in the face of the increase in deaths from coronavirus, a situation that was replicated in several provinces of the country.
In November 2022, dozens of Cubans who exhumed the remains of their relatives in the Columbus Necropolis (Havana) assured that there were no boxes to return them to the vaults.
Images shared at the time by the Cuban Observatory for Human Rights (OCDH) showed several of the victims waiting for a response from the managers of that cemetery, the largest in Cuba.
“People who have exhumed the remains of their relatives, in the Colón cemetery, Havana, have found that there are no boxes to bury them again,” the NGO denounced on that occasion.
