Ivan Velasquez Gomezwho was an assistant magistrate of the Supreme Court and a UN commissioner, will be the Minister of Defense of the Government of Gustavo Petro.
This was announced by the president-elect, through his social networks this Friday.
Our defense minister will be the former assistant magistrate of the Supreme Court responsible for the judicial investigation against parapolitics and former UN commissioner responsible for the commission against corruption and impunity in Guatemala: Dr. Iván Velásquez Gómez.

Velasquez was commissioned against impunity in Guatemala and auxiliary magistrate of the Council of State and of the Supreme Court of Justice.
In addition, he coordinated the Investigative Support Commission of the Criminal Chamber and investigated the links between congressmen and paramilitaries.
