Peruvian Coffee Day: Farmers digitize their businesses through solidarity E-commerce

In this context, coffee production has also become a business opportunity for several farmers, such as the Alto Urubamba Coffee Farming Cooperative, in Cusco; who, with the support of the and his recent initiative the first virtual store that promotes the support of micro and small Peruvian producers and artisans, sees in this activity an opportunity to improve their quality of life and transmit to new generations the knowledge acquired in the cultivation and marketing of this product.

Solidarity online store, La Huella, is the new sales channel that will allow greater visibility of its products.

At Ayuda en Acción, we have been supporting different communities for more than 20 years, training them to improve their production processes, and now we also support them by marketing their products through La Huella, a solidarity e-commerce created so that products made by micro and small Peruvian producers who participate in the foundation’s projects, have greater visibility and ease of sale “affirms Carmen Sánchez Falconí, Deputy Director of the Fundación Ayuda en Acción.

So it was that the Alto Urubamba Coffee Agrarian Cooperative – which has been dedicated to the production and marketing of organic coffee and cocoa for more than 50 years – made up of more than 150 associates between men and women, decided to join the accelerator’s incubation project of Qallariy agri-food businesses, of the Fundación Ayuda en Acción, in order to continue developing socially, culturally and economically.

We realized that it was necessary to have a strategic plan to further develop ourselves. Thanks to the foundation, we are now learning and adopting knowledge that we did not have in our production processes. In this way we hope to increase our results and grow economically”says José Florez Palomino, tropical agronomist and leader of the Alto Urubamba Coffee Agricultural Cooperative.

The Alto Urubamba cooperative produces “Kampaq” coffee in its typical and gourmet versions; which are made under organic, ecological and sustainable techniques; and they are available in the solidarity online store La Huella, for all coffee lovers.

All the products offered on the platform have a social origin, since the micro and small producers come from communities in the process of development and participate in the Ayuda en Acción projects. And, everything that is collected, as a result of sales in this online store, will be used to finance development projects for the generation of new economic opportunities for the families with whom we work”added Carmen Sánchez Falconí.

It should be noted that the Ayuda en Acción Foundation, as part of its actions to analyze the important issues of current economic and social events, carries out the “Dialogues in Action” talks, led by different specialists. A new edition will be held on September 8, with the participation of Pedro José de Zavala, an expert in commercial matters, who will address the importance of electronic commerce today.
