With goals from Luis Suárez, Franco Fagúndez and Emmanuel Gigliotti, Nacional beat Montevideo City Torque 3-0 this Saturday for the fifth date of the Uruguayan soccer Clausura tournament, thus chaining their fourth consecutive victory.

In his first game played at the legendary Centenario Stadium since he returned to the Charrúa league, Suárez enabled Fagúndez to score a stupendous mid-range goal after 8 minutes.

Then, after a great play also with Fagúndez, the Pistolero volleyed at 27 to make it 2-0.

The gunner was close to lengthening the difference at 50 minutes with a new goal that the VAR annulled due to an advanced position.

Seven minutes later, coach Pablo Repetto decided to bring in Argentine Gigliotti in his place, possibly thinking about the next date against arch-rival Peñarol.

Gigliotti closed the game with a header in the 89th minute, for the final 3-0, in a difference that fell short as Nacional had three goals ruled out by VAR.

With the victory against Torque – a club from the City Group to which the Englishman Manchester City belongs, among others – Repetto’s team chained its fourth consecutive victory and continues to go from strength to strength in the local championship.

The Tricolor adds 12 points in five dates of the Closing, thus reaching the leader River Plate, who has one less game.

However, with 59 units, Nacional takes off at the top of the annual table of the Uruguayan Championship, which adds the points of all the short tournaments.

In the Charrúa league, the champions of the Apertura and Clausura tournaments play a semifinal and whoever wins must face the leader of the annual table. The winner of that match is crowned Uruguayan champion.

The ‘Bolso’ was thus prepared in an unbeatable way for the Uruguayan superclásico against Peñarol, which will take place next Sunday at the Gran Parque Central stadium.
