In the last hours, Pereira was consulted by the press in Río Negro, about the interpellation that Senator Mario Bergara will make to the ministers Francisco Bustillo (Foreign Relations) and Luis Alberto Heber (Interior) for having delivered the Uruguayan passport to Sebastián Marset, when he was detained in Dubai for having a false Paraguayan passport.

Pereira stated that the situation is a “political embarrassment” for Uruguay, because Marset was detained in Dubai for entering with a false document.
He said that diplomatic officials in the United Arab Emirates warned the Uruguayan Foreign Ministry to be “careful” about granting that passport. “They asked him whether or not they had to go to jail to get his fingerprints. After he left, he became a fugitive and apparently ordered the murder of the Paraguayan prosecutor, Marcelo Pecci, according to the Colombian government.”
“There is a time when those who make a mistake have to say that they made a mistake. Ministers Heber and Bustillo were wrong and they have to explain to the Uruguayans and not say that there is a legal framework that enabled them to give that passport”, remarked the president of the FA.
He said that the Broad Front starts from the basis that there is a conceptual error, because Intelligence should have been consulted, which was investigating the person for drug trafficking, at the request of the DEA.
