The presidential candidate for the Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD), Pedro Miguel González, in an interview with Radio Panama spoke about the primary elections of this political group where he considers that pressure is being exerted to support the candidacy of Vice President Gaby Carrizo and He referred to the aspirations of former President Martin Torrijos towards the 2024 elections.

Regarding what several deputies said that the government has not yet disbursed the budget due to electoral issues, González said that “I think it will not help them, it is possible that there are deputies who were with Crispiano, have reconsidered and have gone to support for this pressure on Vice President Carrizo, but this is support from the teeth out, and many of them are exempt from primaries, they do not have to go through their circuit, they are going to go to the events with Gaby Carrizo, they are even going to tell her to the people close to them to put on the sweater and the cap but in the end the people are going to vote with whom they think they should vote and the people are clear that this party needs a different alternative ».

Regarding the aspirations of former president Martín Torrijos towards the 2024 elections, I consider that “The part is based on two premises, the first is that the party is kidnapped by a political leadership backed by the government, which makes it unfeasible to win the presidential candidacy for them, the second is that it manages to consolidate an alliance of opposition parties, the Popular Party’s nomination is not enough. I think we are all clear on that, for the Popular Party it is extraordinary as a candidate as a lifeline for the next elections, but to win the government it requires a alliance beyond the Popular Party».
