Pedro Catrain llama a la oposición a sensatez, pero le “manda fuego”

Pedro Catrain calls the opposition to be sensible, but “sends fire”

Santo Domingo.– The president of the bicameral commission in charge of the bill on criminal trials domain extinction for the civil confiscation of illicit assets, Senator Pedro Catrain, responded this Wednesday with “crude” arguments to the opposition’s remarks about the piece.

The perremeista senator from Samaná accused the congressmen of the parties of the Dominican Liberation (PLD)) and the People’s Force (FP) to orchestrate a campaign and a media show to prevent the approval of this legislation.

However, he called those congressmen to common sense and urged them to put aside “their lies” and assume the responsibility of legislating.

Catrain explained that the yellow star party has unleashed this campaign as a result of the fear that its high political leadership has with the possible existence of a domain forfeiture law, because the confiscation of assets obtained from corruption and organized crime would be allowed. .

Referring to Yván Lorenzo, he denounced that the spokesmen for the purple party in the National Congress are threatening businessmen with the figure of tax avoidance so that they withdraw their support for the project, “but both they and the businessmen know that this figure It is not typified in our legal system, which is why it does not make sense for the purposes of the Domain Forfeiture Law”.

Reaction

Dionis Sánchez and Yván Lorenzo, spokesmen for the FP and PLD in the Senate, reacted to the statements made by the head of the bicameral commission working on the initiative. Sánchez understands that the PRM senator must call himself sensible, while Yván Lorenzo reiterated the summons to convene the bicameral commission to finish the pending points and sanction the piece.
