The Prosecutor’s Office intervened today two buildings linked to the former Defense Minister, Walter Ayala, implicated in the irregular promotions of soldiers executed by former President Pedro Castillo.
The order was issued by Supreme Judge Erazmo Coaguila, who ordered the search of the assets located in Surco.
The investigation began in November 2021, after the former general commanders of the Peruvian Army and Air Force, José Vizcarra Álvarez and Jorge Chaparro Pinto, revealed that Ayala and Castillo pressured to promote colonels.
The case also includes former presidential secretary Bruno Pacheco, in whose office in the Government Palace they found US$20,000 in cash.
Pacheco is also implicated in collecting bribes for promotions in the National Police.
Today the special team led by prosecutor Marita Barreto managed to arrest six PNP generals who would have benefited after paying bribes that, according to the investigation, came into the hands of former president Castillo.
