The president of the Republic, peter castlequestioned that the Congress summon ministers to answer for various issues in a practice that he described as an attempt to “set the agenda” for the Government.
In an interview he gave this Saturday, February 19, to the podcast La Pizarra, the president commented on the need for the ministerial cabinet to answer questions before Parliament.
“It happens that when I have the Cabinet, I structure my work plan, I go down to such a region, to such a town, and it turns out that I cannot do it because the minister tells me that Congress has called him to answer for such a thing, as that Congress wants to set the agenda for us by having a country agenda, a big agenda”commented.
Pedro Castillo pointed out that in the Legislative Power there is a sector that does not look at the country and, therefore, has responses “purely of a political nature” which he does not like when he calls a “provincial to be a minister.”
“When I call, for example, a provincial to be a minister because he knows the needs of this country, when I call for a teacher to be Minister of Education and not those who are always in a revolving door, when I call for the Minister of Agriculture to be a farmer, they don’t like it”he asserted.
After these criticisms, the president insisted on his call for unity so that the authorities work with the country in mind and the fact that he has never thought of dissolving Parliament.
“I address the Peruvian Congress, let’s turn the page and think about the country, about the most needy. For our part, it has not crossed our minds, as a certain sector says that Pedro Castillo wants to close Congress”assured.
He also assured the opposition that he has no intention of remaining in office. “Let them get out of their heads that I have come to eternalize myself in power. On July 28, 2026 I am going to give the post to the president who succeeds me and I will go to the place that corresponds to me, I will return to school, that is my space “narrowed down
