Playing at home, at Arena Allianz Parque, in front of 20,723 fans, Palmeiras beat Santo André 1-0, for the eighth round of the first phase of the Paulista Championship. With the victory, Verdão reaches 16 points and distances itself in the leadership of Group C.

The first stage started with the visitors scaring. In a kick from outside the area, Dudu Vieira forces goalkeeper Weverton to palm over the crossbar. At 31 minutes, VAR confirms a penalty in favor of the Palmeiras. After a lot of waiting and complaining, Raphael Veiga charges accurately and opens the scoring.
In the second half, in less than twenty minutes, the hosts created three opportunities to increase the score, but they ran into Jefferson Paulino’s good defenses. With greater possession of the ball, Santo André went ahead in search of a tie, offering the counterattack to Palmeiras, who did not know how to take advantage of the space and the chances of goal.
With the defeat, Santo André remains in the last position of group D with 7 points and returns to the field, next Saturday (26), to face Guarani at the Brinco de Ouro stadium.
The following day – Sunday (27) – Alviverde, commanded by Portuguese coach Abel Ferreira, faces Inter de Limeira.
