Parties and candidates have until Friday to report to the TSE

Starting this Monday (9), candidates and parties that will run for office in this year’s municipal elections must send partial financial statements of their campaigns to the Electoral Court. The deadline ends next Friday (13).Parties and candidates have until Friday to report to the TSE

According to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), the documentation must be registered in the Electoral Accountability System (SPCE) and must include all money movements made from the beginning of the campaign until September 8th.

The TSE emphasizes that it is essential to fulfill the obligation within the established deadline, as per electoral calendar. “In addition to being a legal requirement, it is a practice that reinforces the commitment of parties, candidates and candidates to transparency and respect for electoral rules.”

According to the TSE, by providing clear and precise accounts, parties and candidates contribute “to the speed and fairness of the electoral process and to the population’s trust in democratic institutions”.

“Failure to submit partial accounts in a timely manner or submit them in a manner that does not correspond to the actual movement of resources constitutes a serious infraction – unless justification is accepted by the Electoral Court –, which will be investigated in the judgment of the final accounts”, says the TSE.

The information provided at this stage, according to the TSE, will be made available later on DivulgaCandContas systemaccessible to the public. The platform allows any citizen to consult the campaign accounts of all candidates and all parties.

Through the system, it is also possible to check details such as donations received, expenses incurred and the origin of the resources used in the campaigns.
