Faced with the fourth wave of infections, the modalities in which preschool, primary and secondary schools operate have diversified. In some schools, distance classes are operated, in others it was decided to give advice, use of blogs, chats and electronic pages.

In school communities where consensus was not reached, a mixed model is applied, in which the groups that opted for face-to-face classes attend twice a week, while those who do not attend the campus receive distance classes.

Parents, teachers and directors expressed their concern about the deepening of learning loss, without the Ministry of Public Education (SEP) has established a clear public policy in the face of a complex and diverse reality, which is widening the gaps in school lag.

In the general secondary school number 71 Narciso Bassols, the parents expressed their rejection of the school operating only through a school blog. Although the majority of parents do not want to send their children to classes, there are 20 percent who do want our children to have face-to-face activities, and if not possible, that they at least receive complete virtual classes and not only access a blog to upload papers once a week, which doesn’t even follow the syllabus.

Parents pointed out that since the middle of the 2020-2021 school year the school does not have a director or deputy director, so the responsible authority is the supervisor Carlos González López, who determined that They would only work on the school blog, when almost 80 percent of parents demand distance learning because we already had the experience of the blog, and it doesn’t work. Our children do not get a good learning, and they are the ones who suffer the consequences.

Abelardo Correa, a secondary school teacher, pointed out that in study centers practically the SEP left us alone. Each school community determined the modality in which they would continue working, which increased the gaps in learning, because not all students have the same conditions, either to be online or to continue working alone on their own..

Francisco Bravo, director of the Leonardo Bravo elementary school, stressed that the modality of care in schools has been greatly diversified. There is fear in one sector of parents, but there is also another that opted for face-to-face classes.

He added that in schools where there is greater verticalism and any option of distance classes was discarded, only the three or five children who attend in person are attended to, while the rest of the students simply stay out of school, a situation that is aggravating the school gap.
