In his opinion, trade relations between the United Kingdom and Paraguay have increased, especially in recent years. “Commercial ties are essential to strengthen bilateral relations and I would like to continue increasing British investment in Paraguay, especially in the area of ​​sustainable growth,” he said.

He valued Paraguay as an accessible country to do business, mainly because of its tax rate. “Paraguay is a country that is well seen by its neighbors,” she asserted. In this sense, he recalled that a British company signed an agreement with ANDE for the production of hydrogen with an investment of USD 500 million “this through the electricity generated by Paraguay,” he added.

The departure of the United Kingdom from the European Union is not a problem for Paraguay, “quite the contrary, it is beneficial,” said the ambassador, commenting that trade relations are more direct between the two countries and that has a positive impact on business.

It should be noted that the United Kingdom is one of the destinations most chosen by young Paraguayans when applying for scholarships abroad, through the Don Carlos Antonio López Scholarship Program. (BECAL).

“Currently we have about 150 Paraguayans in the United Kingdom studying careers related to Economics, Law and Sustainable Development. We British people are happy to know that, through our universities, we can help grow people who will carry forward the future of their country”, assured the British ambassador.

At another point, the ambassador mentioned that Scotch whiskey is one of the main products that Paraguay buys from the United Kingdom. “Paraguay currently buys this traditional Scottish drink for USD 20 million a year, which tells us that it is a fairly accepted drink,” he said.
